Summary

Seeking a U.S. licensed Physician with accredited residency training to provide medical care at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking qualified Physicians to provide medical care to our veterans. This position outlines the essential qualifications required for appointment.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
As a Physician at the VA, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive medical services, diagnoses, and treatment plans for veteran patients, ensuring high standards of patient care.

  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship is required (non-citizens may be considered per VA policy).
  • **Education:** Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from a VA-approved school.
  • **Licensure:** A current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the U.S., or the District of Columbia.
  • **Residency Training:** Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to board certification eligibility. This includes programs approved by the ACGME, AOA, or specific non-U.S. residency training followed by at least five years of verified U.S. practice deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
  • **Language Proficiency:** Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • *Note on Residency/Training:**
  • Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs who meet basic requirements may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs must be fully licensed (not a training license) and operate under supervision with a restricted scope of practice. Surgery residents in gap years are also eligible.
  • *Physical Requirements:**
This role requires physical activities including, but not limited to: intermittent lifting up to 35 pounds, moderate carrying (15-35 pounds), lifting over 35 pounds with assistive devices (except in emergent situations), intermittent pulling, pushing, reaching above shoulders, walking, standing, kneeling, and repeated bending.
