Job Description

Summary

Dedicated Physician (Psychiatrist preferred) sought by VA; requires US citizenship, MD/DO, unrestricted license, and completed residency.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a dedicated Physician to provide comprehensive medical care. This role involves direct patient interaction, including managing complex and potentially challenging cases, and adhering to strict safety protocols. Candidates with experience in Psychiatry, telework, and mental health rehabilitation programs are highly encouraged to apply.

  • *Key Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship required (non-citizens may be considered under specific VA policy).
  • **Education:** Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (do) degree from a VA-approved medical school.
  • **Licensure:** Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • **Residency:** Completion of VA-approved residency training (e.g., ACGME/AOA accredited) leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • **Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • *Preferred Experience:**
  • 2+ years of Psychiatry experience.
  • 2+ years of telework experience.
  • Experience with Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (RRTP).
  • *Physical Demands & Work Environment:**
This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity. It involves potentially long periods of walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing, including transferring patients and objects. Incumbents may be exposed to infected patients, contaminated materials (requiring protective clothing), and combative patients. Must be adaptable, capable of working effectively in stressful situations, and able to prioritize patient needs. Annual Employee Health requirements (e.g., TB screening) must be met. Driving for off-site patient care may be required.
