Job Description

Summary

VA seeks a licensed, board-eligible/certified Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive mental health care for Veterans.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Physician specializing in Psychiatry. This role involves providing comprehensive mental health services within a multi-disciplinary team, utilizing evidence-based practices, and potentially engaging with Telehealth modalities.

  • *Responsibilities (inferred from qualifications):**
  • Provide comprehensive Mental Health care to patients.
  • Participate as a key member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Practice psychiatry using evidence-based medicine principles, particularly for complex illnesses.
  • Potentially offer Mental Health care through Telehealth modalities.
  • Administer Buprenorphine treatment if certified.
  • *Basic Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship (Non-citizens may be considered only if qualified citizens are unavailable).
  • **Education:** Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from a VA-approved medical school.
  • **Licensure:** Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the U.S., or the District of Columbia.
  • **Residency Training:** Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification eligibility. This includes ACGME or AOA approved programs, or certain non-US residency programs followed by five years of verified US practice.
  • **English Language Proficiency:** Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • *Preferred Experience:**
  • ABPN Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Comfort and experience providing Mental Health care through Telehealth modalities.
  • Participation as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Demonstrated high level of psychiatry practice using evidence-based medicine principles for patients with complex illnesses.
  • Buprenorphine certification and treatment experience.
  • *Physical Requirements:**
  • Ability to perform light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds).
  • Far vision correctable to 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other.
  • Hearing ability (aid permitted).
  • Ability to independently perform physical exams as appropriate.
  • Ability to perform privileges work.
  • Emotional and mental stability.
