Job Description

Summary

Seeking a licensed Physician with an MD/DO, completed residency, and U.S. license to provide comprehensive patient care.

To qualify for this Physician position, candidates must meet the following core requirements:

  • *Key Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** U.S. Citizenship is required. Non-citizens may be considered under specific VA policy if qualified citizens are unavailable.
  • **Education:** Possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (do) degree from a VA-approved educational institution.
  • **Licensure:** Hold a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • **Residency Training:** Successfully completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program (ACGME/AOA accredited) leading to board certification eligibility. Non-U.S. residency training requires a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States.
  • **Language Proficiency:** Demonstrated proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • *Preferred Experience:**
  • **Leadership:** Proven leadership experience within a psychiatric or mental health setting, including managing teams and overseeing clinical operations.
  • **Telehealth Integration:** Experience in integrating telehealth services into psychiatric care, particularly for remote or hybrid care models.
  • *Physical Requirements:**

A physical examination is required. This role demands the ability to perform duties involving:

  • Heavy lifting (45 pounds and over) and light carrying (under 15 pounds).
  • Reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, and both hands required.
  • Extended periods of walking and standing (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
  • Near vision correctable to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable to 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other; ability to distinguish basic and shades of colors.
  • Hearing (aid permitted) and clear speech.
  • Demonstrated mental and emotional stability, flexibility, and sensible judgment to work effectively in stressful situations and shift priorities based on patient needs.
  • Potential exposure to infected patients, contaminated materials, and occasionally combative individuals, requiring the ability to don protective clothing in isolation situations.
