Job Description

Summary

Certified Pharmacy Technician needed to independently dispense medications, resolve issues, and train staff within a VA healthcare environment.

## Pharmacy Technician (GS-07 equivalent)

  • *About the Role:**
We are seeking an experienced and nationally certified Pharmacy Technician to perform a full range of duties with significant independence. In this role, you will apply advanced judgment to ensure safe and efficient medication distribution, provide mentorship, and resolve complex issues within a dynamic healthcare environment.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Independently perform diverse pharmacy technician duties across various settings, including contact centers.
  • Mentor and train developing pharmacy technicians and students.
  • Resolve pharmacy and medication-related issues with healthcare teams, Veterans, and external customers.
  • Accurately process and input computerized prescriptions and medication orders.
  • Dispense medications and sterile products in strict adherence to all regulations and policies.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain automated dispensing equipment (ADE) and other technology platforms.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • *What You'll Bring:**
  • **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship.
  • **Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • **Certification:** Active National Certification from either:
* Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) - Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) * National Healthcareer Association (NHA) - Certified Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT)
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level.
  • **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):**
* Strong knowledge of pharmacy technician principles, practices, and theories for independent work. * Proficiency with computerized prescription processes and medication order input. * Ability to effectively resolve pharmacy/medication issues with various stakeholders. * Proven ability to train and develop junior pharmacy technicians and students. * Expertise in safely dispensing medication or sterile products following all protocols. * Skill in troubleshooting automated dispensing equipment or technology platforms/databases.

  • *Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Previous Call Center experience.
