Operations Research Analyst (GS-15)

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Research Analyst to apply advanced analytical techniques, solve complex problems, and conduct research, particularly within the rail transportation sector. This role involves developing data-driven solutions and evaluating transportation-related policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Write and present comprehensive technical reports based on research findings.
• Develop innovative methods and approaches for utilizing data to solve problems.
• Apply advanced mathematics, economics, or statistics to address complex challenges.
• Conduct data-driven research on rail transportation issues.
• Utilize analytical methods to evaluate transportation-related laws, policies, guidelines, and rules.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• A degree in Operations Research; or
• At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial college-level mathematics or statistics competence.
• Within the 24 semester hours, at least 3 must be in calculus.

Experience (GS-15 Level):

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level (federal, private, or volunteer).
• This experience must demonstrate all of the following:

* Writing and presenting comprehensive technical research reports. * Developing new data-driven problem-solving methods. * Problem-solving using applied mathematics, economics, or statistics. * Conducting data-driven research on rail transportation. * Applying analytical methods to evaluate transportation laws, policies, or rules.
