Summary
Lead Clinical Pharmacy Specialist independently managing medication therapy, ensuring optimal patient outcomes, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (CPS) at the GS-13 level. This role involves functioning at the highest level of clinical practice, providing independent patient care, and managing complex medication therapies.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Independently initiate, modify, and discontinue medication therapy under defined scope of practice.
- Serve as a consultant for intensive medication therapy management services.
- Design, implement, assess, monitor, and document therapeutic plans for effective and safe patient outcomes.
- Conduct physical assessments and order necessary laboratory and diagnostic tests to evaluate medication efficacy and toxicity.
- Collaborate directly and indirectly with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve positive patient-centric outcomes.
- Contribute to budgetary execution within the program area.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship.
- **Education:** Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy and/or Pharm.D. degree. Foreign pharmacy graduates must provide proof of FPGEC Certification.
- **Licensure:** Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
- **Experience:** Minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.
- *Essential Skills & Abilities:**
- Strong oral and written communication skills to influence clinical and management decisions.
- Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards within your program area.
- Ability to solve problems, coordinate, and organize responsibilities effectively.
- Expert knowledge in a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice.
- Advanced skills in monitoring and assessing drug therapy outcomes, including physical assessment and interpreting diagnostic parameters.
- *Preferred Qualifications:**
- Advanced knowledge and skills in managing and educating VA patients receiving oncology and pain therapies.
- Completion of an oncology pharmacy practice residency or Oncology Board Certification (BCOP).
- Three (3) years of VA oncology practice experience with a defined scope of practice.
