Mechanical Engineer

Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer, GS-12, focusing on the design, evaluation, and management of critical mechanical systems within a medical treatment facility.

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Evaluate, renovate, design, and install mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration, for medical treatment facilities.
• Investigate and resolve complex design and operational problems within mechanical systems.
• Prepare comprehensive specifications, project work descriptions, and cost estimates for new installations, alterations, and projects.
• *Qualifications:**
• **Citizenship:** Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• **Education:** A Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a degree demonstrating foundational engineering and mathematical science coursework. Transcripts are required.
• **Alternatively, a combination of education and experience demonstrating thorough engineering knowledge, supported by:**

* Professional registration/licensure (PE, EI, or EIT). * Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination. * At least 60 semester hours in specific physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences. * A bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics) plus at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.

• **Specialized Experience:** One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, specifically including:

* Evaluating, renovating, designing, and installing mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration) for medical treatment facilities. * Investigating and resolving mechanical system design and operational issues. * Preparing project specifications, descriptions, and cost estimates.

• **Note:** Education cannot be substituted for the specialized experience requirement.
