Job Description
Seeking a Materials Engineer with expertise in metals, supply chain management, testing, and government contract oversight.
Join our team as a Materials Engineer specializing in metals, contributing to critical government programs. This role requires expertise in material properties and supply chain management.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Manage stockpile procedures, policies, and programs.
* Oversee strategic and critical materials supply chains and applications.
* Implement materials testing procedures, logistics, and commodity specifications.
* Perform Contracting Officer Representative (COR) duties.
**Qualifications:**
**Basic Requirement:**
* A Bachelor's or higher degree in Professional Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
* Alternatively, a program including specific calculus and advanced courses in at least five engineering science areas (e.g., statics, strength of materials, thermodynamics, properties of materials).
* **OR** A combination of education and experience demonstrating comprehensive engineering knowledge, evidenced by:
* Current Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer Intern (EI), or Engineer in Training (EIT) registration/licensure.
* Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
* At least 60 semester hours in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences that meet professional engineering curriculum standards.
* A Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g., physics, chemistry) combined with at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.
**Specialized Experience (GS-13 Level):**
* One year of experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent, demonstrating:
* Experience with stockpile procedures, policies, and programs.
* Knowledge of strategic and critical materials supply chains and applications.
* Proficiency in materials testing procedures, logistics, and commodity standards.
* Experience performing Contracting Officer Representative (COR) duties.
*Note: All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be considered.*
