Job Description

Summary

Seeking an engineer to analyze polymer materials, apply engineering principles, conduct failure analysis, and support DoD acquisition.

This position requires at least one year of specialized experience at the DP-03 (GS-9-11 equivalent) level in federal, public, or private sectors.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Study and analyze polymer matrix composites and neat polymer materials, including thermoplastics, BMI, and thermosets.
  • Apply engineering principles related to design, strength & fatigue, manufacturing & quality, technical data, safety, and configuration management.
  • Understand systems engineering concepts, life-cycle phases, and associated documentation, analyses, and reviews.
  • Conduct failure analysis for composite and polymeric materials, utilizing test data, imagery, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with fleet activities, other SYSCOMs, and industry partners to align operational material requirements with emergent processes.
  • Provide analysis and responses during the development and review of program Contractor Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • *Required Skills & Knowledge:**
  • General understanding of the DoD acquisition process and interrelationships among fleet/field activity organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and peers, demonstrating leadership, tact, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create oral presentations and author written reports.
