Summary
Experienced Librarian sought to manage operations, budget, and deliver specialized information services at the GS-12 level.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Librarian at the GS-12 level to manage library operations, budget, and deliver exceptional customer service. This role requires a strong understanding of library systems, resource management, and specialized subject knowledge.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Plan and execute the library budget, advising on resource requirements and annual spend plans.
- Oversee daily library activities, providing guidance, assistance, and training to customers on information access and retrieval.
- Promote library products and services, marketing special events to ensure proactive, customer-oriented services, including reference, research, and media literacy instruction.
- *Qualifications (GS-12):**
Applicants must meet basic librarian requirements and possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, demonstrating the ability to:
- Plan and execute library budgets.
- Oversee library operations and provide customer support and training.
- Promote library services and events.
- *Basic Requirements for Librarians (1410 Series):**
- Professional education in library science (Master's degree highly preferred, typically for GS-9 and above).
- Demonstrated ability to perform, supervise, or direct functional areas of library work, understand information concepts, and stay current with developments.
- **Specialized Subject Matter/Foreign Language:** Many positions require knowledge in specific fields (e.g., biological, medical, social, physical sciences, humanities, law, engineering, or specific foreign languages).

- Experience includes both paid and unpaid work (e.g., volunteer programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps).
