Summary

Operate and maintain printing/bindery equipment, ensuring quality and timely production for U.S. Senate essential services.

Join our team supporting the U.S. Senate's essential services as a highly skilled Print & Bindery Specialist.

  • *Responsibilities:**
  • Operate and safely set up a wide array of printing and industrial bindery equipment, including offset, digital presses, stitchers, cutters, folders, and more.
  • Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Execute all printing requests, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to established standards and specifications.
  • Conduct essential quality control checks and manage priorities to meet deadlines.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Experience:** Minimum 5 years of increasingly responsible work experience in printing and bindery operations.
  • **Technical Skills:**
* Expertise in modern printing and reprographics principles, paper, inks, and supplies. * Proficiency with computers, relevant software, spreadsheets, and databases. * Skill in operating and maintaining diverse printing and bindery equipment.
  • **Operational Skills:**
* Ability to meet established quality control standards and strict deadlines. * Ability to identify and address equipment repair needs. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
  • **Work Environment & Conditions:**
* **Essential Personnel:** This is an 'excepted' position requiring onsite presence and availability during government shutdowns, inclement weather, holidays, weekends, and late nights to support U.S. Senate operations. * Ability to perform frequent physical effort including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, sitting, bending, and working in confined spaces. * Comfortable working with moving machinery, chemicals, paper dust, and noise. * Ability to operate powered industrial trucks (e.g., forklifts). * Required to wear a uniform.
  • **Compliance:** Knowledge of, or ability to learn, departmental rules, including Senate Rules and Ethics policies.
  • **Assessment:** A skills assessment may be part of the hiring process.
  • *Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Direct experience with four-color offset, one-color offset, Inkjet, and digital printing presses.
  • Experience with industrial bindery equipment like stitchers, paper cutters, coil binding, foil stamping, and embossing presses.
  • Prior experience in supervising, training, evaluating, and delegating assignments to staff members.
