## Pharmacy Technician (GS-08) / Lead Pharmacy Technician
Join our team as a Pharmacy Technician, where you will contribute to specialized pharmacy operations. This role, at the GS-08 level, offers opportunities for advanced responsibilities, potentially leading to a Lead Pharmacy Technician assignment.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of specialized pharmacy areas (e.g., sterile compounding, controlled substances, automation, clinical pharmacy).
- Train and orient new and existing pharmacy staff and students on proper policies and procedures.
- Evaluate, analyze, and coordinate workflow and activities within a specialized pharmacy section.
- Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures to maintain continuous workflow and quality.
- Provide leadership and daily operational direction, overseeing 3 or more pharmacy technicians.
- Prepare work schedules and assign tasks to ensure timely completion of duties.
- Monitor pharmacy resources and address workflow needs effectively.
- Offer guidance and support to the work unit in supervisory absence.
- Train personnel on specific methods, procedures, and equipment.
- Provide input to supervisors on employee performance and training needs.
- Adjust work assignments due to absences, emergencies, or changes in priorities.
- Resolve minor employee and patient complaints, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Recommend approval/disapproval of leave requests.
- **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship.
- **Language:** Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- **Certification (for positions above full performance level):** Active national certification (CPhT) through either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) (ExCPT).
- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, or creditable military specialized training in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices.
- Primarily sedentary work, requiring extended periods at a computer monitor.
