## Lead Peer Specialist
Join our team as a Lead Peer Specialist, utilizing your personal recovery journey to empower and support fellow veterans. This role involves providing mentorship, leading team initiatives, training new staff, and contributing valuable insights to interdisciplinary treatment teams.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct mentorship and support to veterans navigating mental health and/or addiction recovery.
- Lead and facilitate team initiatives, fostering engagement and collaboration among members.
- Train new employees on job techniques, policies, procedures, and reference materials.
- Assist team members with specific tasks, helping to manage workloads and workflow.
- Offer independent judgment and mature insights on problem cases to the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Manage your own professional workload while supporting overall team objectives.
- **Veteran Status:** Must be a Veteran (active military, naval, air, or space service) discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.
- **Recovery Experience:** Minimum one (1) year of successful recovery from a mental health condition (mental illness and/or substance use disorder), demonstrating independent living, a healthy lifestyle, meaningful relationships, and community involvement.
- **Peer Specialist Certification:** Certified by a recognized non-profit entity or State that meets established criteria for a peer specialist position.
- **English Language Proficiency:** Proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in federal service, directly related to the work of a Lead Peer Specialist.
- Specialized experience includes supporting teams, coaching, providing on-the-job training, and independently offering support to others in mental health recovery.
- Demonstrated competencies in Planning & Evaluating, Communication, Teaching Others, Leadership, Interpersonal Skills, and Customer Service.
- All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
- Primarily sedentary work with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items.
