Job Description

Summary

Lead hazardous materials operations, applying CBRN/WMD expertise in dangerous environments, including incident response and evidence collection.

This demanding position requires performing hazardous duties in dangerous environments involving live explosives and potential exposure to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) agents. You may need to utilize medical equipment to render life-saving first aid.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Apply federal CBRN, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) laws, regulations, and practices for detection, identification, and sampling to minimize risks.
  • Monitor and assist HAZMAT operations in hazardous atmospheres, including crime scene evaluation, victim rescue, scene preservation, and evidence collection for investigations.
  • Collaborate with Federal, state, and local fire and emergency services within the Incident Command System (ICS) under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • *Qualifications:**
  • One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-12 level) applying extensive knowledge of CBRN, WMD, and HAZMAT laws and practices.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Hazardous Materials Technician certification.
  • Satisfactory completion of all job-related training and meeting required physical health standards.
