This critical, onsite role supports essential U.S. Senate services by ensuring efficient and secure mail facility operations. We are seeking a dedicated individual to manage mail processing, operate specialized equipment, and maintain a high standard of security for incoming and outgoing correspondence.

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Operate and monitor various mail processing equipment, including X-ray machines, electric pallet jacks, handheld devices, and computers.
• Handle, sort, and deliver mail in accordance with USPS and U.S. Senate policies and procedures.
• Identify and report suspicious or hazardous mail, completing annual threat recognition training.
• Accurately input data into computer systems and handheld devices.
• Communicate effectively with Senate staff and the public regarding service requests.
• Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to OSHA and facility safety protocols.
• May serve as Mail Shift Supervisor in their absence.
• *Required Qualifications:**
• 1-3 years of experience in mail facility operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, database applications).
• Ability to obtain and maintain certifications for pulmonary, X-ray operation, respiratory fit, and Power Pallet Jack Operator Safety.
• Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, N-95 masks, gloves, and Tyvek suits.
• Physical ability to safely lift/share up to 100 lbs, and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• *Work Environment & Expectations:**
• This is an essential, onsite position directly supporting the U.S. Senate.
• Requires availability to work during government shutdowns, inclement weather, holidays, weekends, and late nights.
• Exposes employees to dust, potential mail threats, and requires infrequent outdoor work.
