Summary

Seeking experienced Law Enforcement Instructors (GS-12) to train in specialized federal, state, and local law enforcement disciplines.

## Law Enforcement Instructor (GS-12)

We are seeking highly qualified Law Enforcement Instructors to deliver specialized training across various critical disciplines. This role involves both instructing and performing duties directly related to your area of expertise.

### Responsibilities

  • Instruct law enforcement training curricula.
  • Perform law enforcement duties relevant to your assigned topical area(s).
### Key Requirements

  • *1. Selective Placement Factor (Applicants must meet A or B):**
  • **A.** Possess experience as a sworn law enforcement officer or agent with full arrest authority in the prevention, detection, apprehension, detention, and/or investigation of felony and/or misdemeanor violations of federal, state, local, tribal, or military criminal laws.
  • **or**
  • **B.** Have held a federal civilian position in the 1801 occupational series.
  • *2. Specialized Experience (GS-12 Level):**
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level (or equivalent in public/private sector) performing:
* Law enforcement duties directly related to the topical area(s) for which you are applying; **or** * Instructing law enforcement training curricula in the topical area(s) for which you are applying.
  • *Note: Education cannot be substituted for specialized experience at this grade level.*

### Specific Role Requirements (If applicable to your specialty):

  • *For Physical Techniques Instructors:**
  • Ability to perform repetitive long-distance running (1-3 miles several times daily), repetitive calisthenics, and lift moderate to heavy weights.
  • Considerable physical exertion during demonstrations and active participation in physical fitness activities (warm-ups, strength training, cardiovascular training, continuous calisthenics 30-45 minutes, anaerobic sprints).
  • **Required:** Pass a Physical Examination (Optional Form 178) and a Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) test (minimum 40th percentile in each of five elements).
  • *For Firearms Instructors:**
  • **Required:** Pass the standard 60-round Firearms Proficiency test with a minimum score of 85% (255 out of 300 points).
### Additional Information:
  • **Federal Employees:** Must meet time-in-grade requirements and submit SF-50 documentation demonstrating eligibility.
  • **Qualifying Experience:** Both paid and volunteer experience are considered.
  • **LEO Retirement:** Most positions may be eligible for Secondary Administrative Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Retirement Coverage.
  • **Reemployed Annuitants:** Federal retirees with relevant law enforcement/investigative experience may be eligible for time-limited positions with a dual-compensation waiver.
