Summary
Manage inventory, analyze supply chain data, and coordinate logistics to ensure operational readiness and prevent shortages.
This Inventory Management Specialist role is critical for optimizing supply chain operations and ensuring material readiness. You will apply advanced inventory planning and supply chain principles to manage assets, prevent shortages, and support mission demands through effective coordination and data analysis.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and adjust time-phased inventory requirements based on usage data analysis.
- Conduct research, review documentation, and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve supply discrepancies.
- Implement corrective actions for systemic issues and prepare reports to improve logistics decision-making.
- Forecast material needs, identify constraints, and develop strategies to ensure mission readiness.
- Collaborate across functional areas (e.g., procurement, engineering, finance) to resolve supply problems.
- Utilize enterprise systems for supply plan development, supplier evaluation, and performance tracking.
- *Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** Minimum of one year of specialized experience applying supply planning and inventory management principles. This includes analyzing usage data, coordinating with officials to resolve discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions. Higher-level roles require advanced experience in forecasting, cross-functional collaboration, and enterprise system utilization.
- **Education (for GS-11 equivalent only):** Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education; OR LL.M. (if related). A combination of education and specialized experience may also be accepted.
- **Note:** Education cannot substitute for specialized experience at the highest level (GS-12 equivalent). Volunteer experience that builds relevant competencies is considered.
