Interpreter

Seeking a highly experienced Mandarin-English Interpreter (GS-15) for senior-level responsibilities. This role requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14, demonstrating advanced interpreting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform simultaneous and consecutive interpreting at the conference level between Mandarin and English.
• Interpret for senior government officials during one-on-ones, bilateral meetings, and press events.
• Serve as chief interpreter, leading and providing guidance to a team of simultaneous interpreters at international conferences covering political, economic, social, technical, and scientific matters.

Qualifications:

• Must possess extensive experience in Mandarin into English and English into Mandarin interpretation.
• Prior experience in translating, interpreting, or work requiring proficient use of both languages.

All applicants will be tested by the agency for proficiency on a pass/fail basis prior to appointment. Education cannot substitute for specialized experience for this GS-15 position.
