Summary

Analyze international trade data, economic factors, and policy to produce detailed reports and recommendations.

The International Trade Analyst position involves analyzing global trade trends, economic factors, and U.S. trade policies. This role requires rigorous data analysis, report generation, and collaborative research to inform critical decision-making. A writing assessment may be part of the hiring process.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Conduct in-depth studies analyzing trade, economic, financial, and marketing data.
  • Apply advanced fact-finding and investigative techniques to gather trade data from diverse sources.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative analytical methods to interpret and present findings.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive briefings and recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate effectively as a member of research teams.
  • For GS-13 level, specialize in antidumping/countervailing duty analysis, including import injury data and firm-specific surveys.
  • *Basic Qualifications (Meet one of the following):**
  • **Education:** A major study in Business Administration, Economics, Business or International Law, Finance, Industrial Management, International Trade/Relations, or a directly related field.
  • **Experience:** Demonstrated ability to perform the position's functions, including knowledge of:
* Production of goods and services in international trade. * Technical and economic factors influencing international trade and competitiveness. * Commodity and trade data collection methods and analytical techniques. * U.S. trade laws, agreements, and policies regulating international commerce.

  • *Specialized Experience Requirements (in addition to Basic Qualifications):**
  • **GS-11 Level:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-9) conducting trade studies, applying fact-finding techniques, using analytical methods, preparing briefings, and collaborating on research projects.
* *Education Substitution:* Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education; or an LL.M. (if related) in a relevant field (e.g., business, economics, law, finance, international trade).
  • **GS-12 Level:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-11) producing comprehensive trade studies, generating and applying advanced fact-finding techniques, and delivering detailed briefings and recommendations.
  • **GS-13 Level:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-12) producing studies with expertise in antidumping/countervailing duty, analyzing import injury data, utilizing specialized analytical techniques for these areas, and delivering briefings on import injury or antidumping/countervailing duty findings.
