Summary
CSIS seeks a motivated External Relations Intern to support communications, social media, and event outreach efforts.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a leading bipartisan public policy organization, is seeking a highly motivated External Relations Communications Intern. This full-time, paid, in-person internship runs from January 2026 through May 2026 in Washington, D.C. Join our dynamic and fast-paced team to support center-wide outreach, communication, and social media efforts.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare media advisories, event announcements, and manage mailing lists.
- Support all phases of event preparation, staffing, and photography.
- Draft engaging social media content, including short videos, and monitor channels for engagement and referrals.
- Assist with the compilation of communication metrics and analytics.
- Contribute to long-term projects such as outreach research, data gathering, and proposal writing.
- Provide general administrative support to the External Relations team.
- *Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong customer service aptitude.
- Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- General knowledge of international affairs and a strong interest in current news cycles.
- Previous experience in event photography and working knowledge of cameras.
- Prior communications experience, including familiarity with social media analytics.
