Job Description

Summary

Apply quantitative analysis, data science, and economic principles to conduct research and solve complex problems.

We are seeking dedicated quantitative professionals (Economists, Data Scientists, or Mathematicians) to conduct research, analyze data, and solve complex problems. Positions are available at both GS-09 and GS-11 levels, offering opportunities to apply advanced analytical skills.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • *GS-09 Level:**
  • Apply economic principles, analytical techniques, or programming languages to manage and analyze data.
  • Conduct research in actuarial science, data science, mathematics, or statistics.
  • *GS-11 Level (includes GS-09 duties, plus):**
  • Lead and conduct quantitative research initiatives.
  • Analyze economic data and apply advanced data science techniques to solve problems.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports in actuarial science, data science, mathematics, or statistics.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • *Experience:**
  • **GS-09 Level:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-07, applying economic/analytical/programming skills to data analysis and conducting research in quantitative fields.
  • **GS-11 Level:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-09, conducting quantitative research, analyzing economic data with data science techniques, and preparing reports in quantitative fields.
  • *Note: Experience can be gained in federal, state, local, private, or non-governmental sectors. Volunteer experience is fully credited.*
  • *Education (Must meet one of the following Individual Occupational Requirements - IOR):**
  • **Economist (Series 0110):**
* A degree in economics (minimum 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus). * or a combination of education (equivalent to an economics major) and appropriate experience.

  • **Data Scientist (Series 1560):**
* A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a directly related field. * or a combination of education (equivalent to a 30-semester hour major in relevant fields) and appropriate experience.

  • **Mathematician (Series 1520):**
* A degree in Mathematics (minimum 24 semester hours in mathematics). * or a combination of education (equivalent to a mathematics major including 24 semester hours) and appropriate experience. * *All Mathematics degrees must include differential and integral calculus, plus four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus as a prerequisite.*
