## Information Technology Specialist (GS-11/12)

Join our team as an IT Specialist, where you will play a critical role in managing and securing our network infrastructure. This position offers growth potential across the GS-11 and GS-12 levels, focusing on cybersecurity, network monitoring, and incident response.

### Key Responsibilities (Vary by Grade Level):

  • *For GS-11:**
  • Conduct research to identify unanticipated security threats.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic and performance.
  • Assist in managing changes and updates to the network.
  • *For GS-12:**
  • Analyze computer or network incidents following standard operating procedures.
  • Test and maintain network infrastructure, including software and hardware.
  • Perform comprehensive network monitoring and intrusion detection.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot cybersecurity tools.
### Basic Qualifications (One of the following is required):

  • **Education:** A bachelor's or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management, or a related field that included a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of these areas.
  • **or**
  • **Competencies:** Demonstrated proficiency in the following four areas:
* **Attention to Detail:** Thorough and conscientious in work performance. * **Customer Service:** Ability to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations of clients. * **Oral Communication:** Effectively convey information to individuals or groups, adapting to the audience. * **Problem Solving:** Identify problems, determine information relevance, and use sound judgment to evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

### Grade-Specific Qualifications:

  • *For GS-11:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service (or comparable private sector experience), which includes conducting research for threats, monitoring network traffic, and assisting with network changes.
  • **or**
  • **Education:** A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
  • **or**
  • **Combination:** A successful combination of qualifying education and experience.
  • *For GS-12:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (or comparable private sector experience), which includes analyzing incidents, testing/maintaining infrastructure, performing network monitoring/intrusion detection, and installing/configuring/troubleshooting cybersecurity tools.
