Join our team as a Healthcare Engineer, playing a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient healthcare environments. We are seeking professionals with expertise in engineering or architecture to manage and optimize complex building systems, medical equipment, and infrastructure within a healthcare setting. This role offers growth opportunities across multiple General Schedule (GS) levels, based on your education and experience.

  • *Key Responsibilities (Varies by GS Level):**
  • Apply engineering/architectural principles to healthcare systems.
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Manage and implement complex projects related to buildings, utilities, medical equipment, and information systems.
  • Analyze conditions, identify problems, and develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with technical staff, management, and external partners.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams on projects and inspections.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship:** United States Citizenship required.
  • **Language:** Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • **Education & Licensure (One of the following):**
* Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering or Architecture from an ABET (Engineering) or NCARB (Architecture) accredited program. Examples include Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Biomedical, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Architecture. * **or** Bachelor's degree and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination (e.g., Engineer in Training certificate). * **or** Current professional registration or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect (RA) in any U.S. state, D.C., Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • **Physical Requirements:** May require a pre-employment physical.
  • *Experience & Skills by Grade Level:**
  • **GS-07:** Meets basic education requirements.
  • **GS-09:**
* **Experience:** 1+ year experience equivalent to GS-07, or * **Education:** Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or Bachelor's + 2 years of progressively higher graduate education in a related field. * **Skills:** Knowledge of engineering principles, ability to interpret codes and regulations, understand clinical operational needs, present technical topics, and stay updated on technology.
  • **GS-11:**
* **Experience:** 1+ year experience equivalent to GS-09, or * **Education:** Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Engineering or related field, or Bachelor's + 3 years of progressively higher graduate education in a related field. * **Skills:** Knowledge of specific engineering/architectural principles in healthcare, basic program/project management in healthcare, apply healthcare standards/codes, effective oral/written communication, and develop educational materials on engineering technology for healthcare.
  • **GS-12:**
* **Experience:** 1+ year specialized experience equivalent to GS-11, or * **Education:** Completion of a post-doctoral research fellowship in engineering. * **Skills:** Comprehensive knowledge of all engineering/architectural principles in healthcare, expertise in healthcare industry standards (e.g., TJC, OSHA, NFPA), construction standards, advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to plan and execute complex multi-faceted projects, and lead multi-disciplinary task forces.
