Summary
Ensure radiation safety and compliance as a Health Physicist, reviewing permits, managing materials, and conducting inspections.
## Health Physicist (GS-13)
- *Overview:**
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Review and approve Radioactive Material Permits.
- Oversee the safe storage and transportation of radiation materials.
- Conduct thorough radiation safety inspections to ensure compliance.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- *1. Basic Eligibility (One of the following):**
- **A. Degree:** Bachelor's degree (or higher) in natural science or engineering, including at least 30 semester hours in fields such as health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus.
- **B
Education + Experience:** Relevant coursework (as described above) combined with appropriate experience or additional education.
- **C. Certification:** Certification as a Health Physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus relevant experience and education demonstrating comparable scientific understanding. (Attach certification if applying under this option).
- *2. Specialized Experience (Required in addition to Basic Eligibility):**
- One year of specialized experience, typically at the GS-12 federal service level, which includes:
- **Important Note:** This specialized experience must be met through experience alone; education cannot be substituted for this requirement.
