Summary
Manage FOIA/PA requests, redact sensitive data, and ensure compliant information release for government operations.
Join our team as a Government Information Specialist (FOIA/PA) at the GS-12/13 level, crucial for ensuring transparent and compliant information release under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA).
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Process and manage FOIA/PA requests from initial receipt through final response.
- Review, analyze, and redact sensitive information in accordance with FOIA/PA exemptions.
- Conduct thorough record searches and research to determine information releasability.
- Draft official responses to requesters and prepare status reports for senior leadership.
- Maintain accurate FOIA/PA databases and formal administrative records.
- Utilize automated tools and software for efficient documentation, information organization, and discovery efforts.
- (GS-13 Only) Communicate and negotiate with requesters regarding complex FOIA/PA requests.
- (GS-13 Only) Consult with other government entities on responsiveness and releasability determinations.
- (GS-13 Only) Work independently on critical tasks and potentially review the work of others.
- *Qualifications & Requirements:**
- **General:** All qualifications, including time-in-grade, must be met by December 4, 2025.
- **For GS-12:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level (or equivalent) demonstrating proficiency in at least three of the following: reviewing/redacting documents under FOIA/PA, processing requests end-to-end, drafting responses/reports, maintaining FOIA/PA databases, or utilizing automated documentation tools.
- **For GS-13:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level (or equivalent) demonstrating proficiency in at least three of the following: communicating/negotiating with requesters, conducting record searches, researching releasability, consulting with other government entities, independent task handling (and potentially reviewing others), or leveraging technology for efficient request processing.
- Your resume must clearly detail experience supporting these qualifications.
