## Government Information Specialist (GS-09/11)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Government Information Specialist to manage and respond to complex information requests, ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA). This role requires critical research, data analysis, and effective communication within a federal environment.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and respond to diverse information requests and inquiries.
  • Research and interpret federal laws, regulations, and directives, with a focus on FOIA/PA.
  • Evaluate and analyze data and information to formulate accurate and compliant responses.
  • Prepare comprehensive written materials and official communications.
  • **(GS-11 Specific)** Communicate and negotiate directly with requesters regarding FOIA/PA matters.
  • **(GS-11 Specific)** Conduct thorough record searches to fulfill FOIA requests.
  • **(GS-11 Specific)** Determine the appropriate release of FOIA/PA information based on extensive research.
  • **(GS-11 Specific)** Consult with other government entities regarding information responsiveness and releasability determinations.
### Qualifications:

  • *For GS-09:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level (or equivalent) demonstrating proficiency in at least three of the following: coordinating requests, researching FOIA/PA laws, evaluating data, and preparing written materials. **or**
  • **Education:** A Master's degree, two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education, LL.B., or J.D. **or**
  • **Combination:** An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education.
  • *For GS-11:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level (or equivalent) demonstrating proficiency in at least three of the following: communicating/negotiating with requesters, conducting record searches, researching FOIA/PA releasability, and consulting with government entities. **or**
  • **Education:** A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education; or an LL.M. (if related to the field of study). **or**
  • **Combination:** An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education.
### Additional Requirements:
  • Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements and submit an SF50 (if applicable).
