Summary
Manages government information, including FOIA/PA requests, through meticulous research, analysis, and communication.
Join our team as a Government Information Specialist (GS-9/11), responsible for managing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) requests. This role requires meticulous research, analysis, and communication to ensure accurate information dissemination.
- *Key Responsibilities (Vary by Grade Level):**
- *For GS-09:**
- Coordinate and respond to information requests and inquiries.
- Research laws, regulations, and directives for accurate FOIA/PA interpretation.
- Evaluate and analyze data for responses.
- Prepare written communications and materials.
- *For GS-11 (building on GS-09 skills):**
- Communicate and negotiate directly with FOIA/PA requesters.
- Conduct comprehensive record searches for FOIA responses.
- Research and determine releasable FOIA/PA information.
- Consult with other government entities regarding information responsiveness and release.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- *GS-09 Level:**
- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level, demonstrating at least three of the following: coordinating requests, researching FOIA/PA laws, evaluating data, or preparing written materials.
- **Education:** A Master's or equivalent graduate degree (e.g., LL.B., J.D.), or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
- **Combination:** A combination of qualifying experience and graduate education.
- *GS-11 Level:**
- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level, demonstrating at least three of the following: communicating/negotiating with requesters, conducting record searches, researching releasable FOIA/PA info, or consulting with other entities.
- **Education:** A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education (e.g., related LL.M.).
- *General Requirements:**
- **Time-in-Grade:** Current/former federal employees must have one year at the next lower grade.
- **Resume:** Limited to two pages (effective Sept 27, 2025). Must support questionnaire responses.
- **Assessment:** Complete a USA Hire assessment within 48 hours of the closing date (October 7, 2025).
- Submit SF50 if applicable.
- Meet all qualifications by the closing date: October 7, 2025.
