Job Description

Summary

Seeking professionals to manage, inspect, and audit vessel operations and maintenance programs, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

This role involves managing and executing vessel operations, maintenance, and compliance programs. Candidates are sought at various experience levels (GS-11, GS-12, GS-13), with specific experience requirements for each grade. Education requirements vary by grade.

  • *General Qualifications:**
  • Meet specific education or experience qualifications for the desired GS level.
  • Provide official transcripts for verification.
  • Qualifications must be fully supported by your resume and transcripts.
  • Qualifying experience includes both paid and unpaid/volunteer work.
  • *Specific Grade Level Requirements:**
  • *GS-11:**
  • **Experience:** One year equivalent to GS-09, involving inspecting and collecting data on ship operational performance and maintenance.
  • **Education:** Ph.D. or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
  • **Combination:** A blend of relevant higher-level graduate education and experience is acceptable.
  • *GS-12 (Experience Required - Education Alone Not Sufficient):**
  • **Experience:** One year equivalent to GS-11, including:
* Working with and administering Fleet Operation and Maintenance programs for shipyard repairs and associated vessel activities. * Maintaining and auditing ship logbooks for a Safety Management System.

  • *GS-13 (Experience Required - Education Alone Not Sufficient):**
  • **Experience:** One year equivalent to GS-12, including:
* Interacting with the U.S. Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping for inspections and audits. * Applying U.S. Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping rules and regulations to write technical specifications of work and engineering procedures. * Utilizing vessel fleet management software for vessel operations and maintenance.

  • *Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):**
  • **Resource Management:** Selecting, acquiring, storing, and distributing resources; tracking business plans and fund requests.
  • **Written Communication:** Producing clear, succinct, and grammatically correct written information, including technical material.
  • **Planning and Evaluation:** Organizing work, setting priorities, determining resource requirements, defining goals, coordinating, and monitoring progress.
  • **Self-Management:** Setting realistic goals, demonstrating initiative, working with minimal supervision, and maintaining accountability.
  • *Additional Information:**
  • Students enrolled in a qualifying degree program with an anticipated graduation date within six months of the closing date may apply (transcripts required before start date).
