Job Description
Summary
Lead senior engineering projects, providing expert technical decisions, managing acquisition programs, and evaluating complex proposals.
We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified Engineer to provide expert technical leadership and management for complex acquisition programs. This role requires a strong engineering background combined with specialized experience in project management, technical evaluation, and strategic problem-solving at a senior level.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide authoritative technical decisions and consultation on planning, integration, coordination, and critical management issues.
- Evaluate proposals and design documents for technical merit, resolving issues related to project scope, cost, and resources.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, correspondence, fact sheets, and presentations for engineering and acquisition assignments.
- Serve as a Project Manager or Technical Advisor for acquisition programs.
- Act as a Configuration Manager for acquisition programs.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- *1. Education & Foundational Engineering Knowledge (One of the following):**
- **ABET-Accredited Engineering Degree:** A professional engineering bachelor's degree (or higher) from an ABET-accredited program.
- **Specific Engineering Coursework:** A degree including differential/integral calculus and advanced courses (beyond first-year physics/chemistry) in at least five of seven core engineering science/physics areas (e.g., statics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, electrical fields, materials science).
- **Professional Engineer (PE) Registration:** Current registration as a PE in any US state or territory.
- **Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification:** Evidence of successfully passing the EIT examination.
- **Extensive Engineering Science Courses:** Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, fully acceptable towards a professional engineering curriculum.
- **Related Bachelor's Degree with Experience:** A bachelor's degree in engineering technology or a related professional field (e.g., physics, chemistry, computer science) plus at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under supervision.
- *2. Specialized Experience (Required for GS-14 Level):**
- Minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 federal service level. This experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the responsibilities listed above.
- *Note: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.*
- *Important Considerations:**
- Volunteer experience, including National Service programs, will be considered.
- Disclosure of current or former political appointee status is required.
