Job Description
Seeking a General Engineer (GS-12) to develop and apply engineering solutions; requires an engineering degree/certification and specialized experience.
We are seeking a General Engineer (0801) to develop concepts, participate in design analysis, and independently apply engineering procedures and techniques. This role requires strong problem-solving and technical competence.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Develop and analyze engineering system concepts.
* Participate in the design analysis of engineering systems.
* Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering procedures and techniques.
**Qualifications:**
**Education & Certification (One of the following is required):**
* **Engineering Degree:** A professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
* **Specific Coursework:** A degree including differential/integral calculus and advanced courses (more than first-year physics/chemistry) in at least five of seven specified engineering science/physics areas (e.g., statistics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical fields, material properties).
* **Combined Education & Experience:** College-level education and technical experience demonstrating thorough knowledge of engineering's underlying physical/mathematical sciences, plus practical/theoretical understanding of engineering sciences and techniques. This must be validated by one of the following:
* Current professional registration (Engineer Intern, Engineer in Training, or Professional Engineer) in any U.S. state/territory.
* Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or other written tests required for professional registration.
* At least 60 semester hours of college-level courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, meeting engineering program requirements.
* A Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics, computer science) combined with at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under supervision.
**Specialized Experience (GS-12 Level):**
* Minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. This experience must include developing concepts, participating in design analysis, and independently evaluating, selecting, and applying engineering procedures and techniques to assignments.
* *For current Federal employees:* Must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11 level or higher.
