General Counsel (Deputy Inspector General)

Join our team as an Attorney, providing expert legal counsel on complex issues within the Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Provide legal opinions and memoranda on intricate legal issues pertinent to OIG audits, investigations, inspections, and reviews.
• Address diverse legal areas, including criminal, financial, national security, and ethics.
• Analyze complex legal problems, interpret statutes, and develop sound legal decisions and recommendations.
• Coordinate program efforts internally and externally, representing the OIG to key stakeholders.
• *Required Qualifications:**
• **Education:** Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from an accredited institution.
• **Bar Membership:** Active admission in good standing to the bar of any U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, or Federal Court.
• **Specialized Experience:** At least one year of experience at the GS-15 grade level (or equivalent) in providing legal opinions/memoranda on complex issues relevant to OIG operations.
• **Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs):**

* Demonstrated experience analyzing complex legal issues, making statutory interpretations, and developing sound legal decisions. * Thorough knowledge of legal principles and federal law, including the Inspector General Act, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act, employment law, contract law, and federal ethics regulations. * Proven ability to coordinate efforts with internal and external offices and effectively represent the OIG.
