## General Attorney (Tax) - Special Counsel
We are seeking a highly qualified General Attorney (Tax) - Special Counsel to provide expert legal counsel on complex tax matters. This pivotal role involves specialized legal expertise in tax law, transaction planning, and tax controversy.
### Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance on tax transaction planning.
- Manage and resolve tax controversy cases.
- Address legal issues related to the realization and recognition of income items, deductions, losses, credits, or adjustments to gross income.
- Apply expertise in tax timing and income tax accounting principles.
- *Education:**
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Bar of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. Territory, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
- An LL.M. degree in Tax (or a related field) may substitute for one year of general legal experience.
- *Experience:**
- Minimum of 1 year of general professional legal experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of dedicated professional legal tax experience, which must include:
- At least one year of professional legal tax experience must be equivalent to the federal GS-14 level.
- **Note:** All qualifying professional legal experience must be gained after Bar admission. Volunteer experience is credited.
