Seeking a Special Counsel General Attorney (Tax) to provide expert legal guidance on complex federal tax laws, incentives, and credits.

## General Attorney (Tax) - Special Counsel (GS-15)

We are seeking a highly qualified General Attorney (Tax) - Special Counsel to provide expert legal guidance and analysis on complex federal tax laws. This role focuses on critical areas including business incentives, energy-related tax credits, and excise taxes.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal guidance and analysis on Internal Revenue tax laws, regulations, and decisions.
  • Specialize in legal matters concerning business incentives, including general business credits under § 38 of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Address legal issues related to energy and natural resources, and energy-related production and investment tax credits.
  • Conduct legal analysis for excise taxes and fuel credits.
### Minimum Qualifications:

  • *Education:**
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
  • *Bar Membership:**
  • Active member in good standing of the bar of a U.S. State, Commonwealth, Territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
  • *Experience (Post-Bar Admission):**
  • **1 year of general professional legal experience.**
* *Substitution:* An LL.M. degree in Tax or a related field may substitute for this requirement.
  • **3 years of specialized professional legal tax experience.** This experience must involve providing legal guidance and analysis on Internal Revenue tax laws, regulations, and decisions applicable to:
* Business incentives (e.g., general business credits under § 38). * Energy and natural resources, including energy-related production and investment tax credits. * Excise taxes and fuel credits. * *Note:* At least one year of this tax experience must be equivalent to federal GS-14 level work.

  • Only experience gained after Bar Admission will be credited as professional legal experience.
