## General Attorney (Tax) (Senior Counsel) - GS-15

We are seeking a highly experienced General Attorney (Tax) to serve as Senior Counsel, providing expert legal advice and managing complex procedural tax matters.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counsel on procedural tax law, including assessment, collection, refund, and compliance.
  • Manage legal matters involving Circular 230, FOIA, disclosure, privacy, and bankruptcy.
  • Handle judicial practice, procedure, and electronic discovery in tax litigation.
  • Apply expertise in administrative procedures and professional conduct rules (e.g., ABA Model Rules).
### Qualifications:
  • **Education:** Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • **Bar Membership:** Active member in good standing of the bar of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. Territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
  • **Experience (Post-Bar Admission Only):**
* Minimum 1 year of general professional legal experience. * Minimum 3 years of specialized professional legal tax experience. * At least 1 year of this tax experience must be equivalent to the GS-14 federal service level.
  • **Required Tax Expertise:** Comprehensive knowledge of procedural tax law and related legal concepts, with practical experience in areas such as:
* Tax filing, payment, assessment, collection, and refunds. * Circular 230, ABA Model Rules, and the Administrative Procedure Act. * Disclosure, privacy, FOIA, bankruptcy, summonses, and information gathering. * Judicial practice, procedure, and electronic discovery in litigation.
  • **Education Substitution:** An LL.M. degree in Taxation/Tax Law or a FOIA/Disclosure-related field may substitute for 1 year of general legal experience.
  • **Federal Applicants:** Must have completed 52 weeks of federal service at the GS-14 level within the last year.
