Summary

Senior General Attorney (Tax) (GS-15) specializing in federal procedural tax law and related litigation, requiring significant post-bar experience.

Join our team as a Senior General Attorney (Tax) (GS-15) to manage complex tax law matters.

  • *Key Requirements:**
  • **Education:** Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an ABA-accredited institution.
  • **Bar Membership:** Active member in good standing of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. Territory, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico bar.
  • **Experience (Post-Bar Admission):**
* Minimum 4 years of professional legal experience, including at least 3 years specializing in tax law. * At least one year of this experience must be equivalent to the federal GS-14 level.
  • **Tax Law Expertise:** Comprehensive knowledge of procedural tax law and its intersection with other legal concepts. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Tax assessment, collection, abatements, credits, and refunds. * Procedural aspects of tax filings and payments. * Circular 230, ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, Administrative Procedure Act. * Disclosure, privacy, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) matters. * Bankruptcy practice and procedure concerning tax. * Summonses and information gathering. * Judicial practice and procedure, including electronic discovery in litigation.
  • **Education Substitution:** An LL.M. degree in Taxation/Tax Law or a FOIA/Disclosure related field may substitute for one year of general legal experience.
