  • *Job Title: CAD Designer / Exhibit Component Specialist (GS-09/11)**
We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to create precise technical drawings and specifications for exhibit components, guiding projects from fabrication through installation. This role involves detailed design work and, at the higher level, project resource management.

  • *Responsibilities:**
  • Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to produce detailed, precise drawings and specifications.
  • Outline exact dimensions and construction details for exhibit components.
  • Support projects through all phases: fabrication, mount making, and installation.
  • (For GS-11) Manage project time and resources effectively.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • *Basic Requirements (choose one):**
  • **Education:** Bachelor's or graduate degree in illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or a closely related field. Advanced vocational, technical, or art institute training may also qualify.
  • **Experience:** Demonstrated experience in design, modelmaking, art, taxidermy, or restoration. Unpaid experience is creditable if it demonstrates the required quality and ability.
  • *Specialized Experience / Education (in addition to basic requirements):**
  • *For GS-09 Level:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-07 Federal Service) utilizing CAD software to create detailed drawings and specifications for exhibit components, covering fabrication, mount making, and installation phases.
  • **Education:** Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field.
  • **Combination:** A combination of qualifying education and experience.
  • *For GS-11 Level:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-09 Federal Service) utilizing CAD software for detailed exhibit component drawings and specifications (fabrication, mount making, installation), *including managing project time and resources*.
  • **Education:** Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field.
  • **Combination:** A combination of qualifying education and experience.
