Job Description

Summary

Exhibit Specialist utilizing CAD/CAM software to manage and execute complex museum projects from design to installation.

This role involves executing complex museum exhibit projects utilizing CAD/CAM software, from initial pre-production and fabrication to final installation. Opportunities are available at both GS-09 and GS-11 levels, with increasing responsibilities.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software for all phases of museum exhibit projects, including fabrication, mount making, and installation.
  • (GS-11) Oversee project execution from pre-production through installation.
  • (GS-11) Mentor staff and integrate advanced CAD/CAM techniques into fabrication workflows.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • *Basic Eligibility (Meet at least one):**
  • **Education:** Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent graduate education) in illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or a closely related field. Advanced vocational/technical training in these areas may also be credited.
  • **Experience:** Demonstrated experience in design, modelmaking, art, taxidermy, or restoration. This includes relevant paid, unpaid, or volunteer work.
  • *Specific Requirements by Grade Level:**
  • *GS-09 Level:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-07) using CAD/CAM software to execute complex museum exhibit projects through fabrication, mount making, and installation. or
  • **Education:** A Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field (as listed above). or
  • **Combination:** A combination of qualifying education and experience.
  • *GS-11 Level:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-09) executing complex museum exhibit projects from pre-production through installation, including mentoring, overseeing, and integrating CAD/CAM techniques into the fabrication process. or
  • **Education:** A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field (as listed above). or
  • **Combination:** A combination of qualifying education and experience.
