Summary

Environmental Compliance Specialist ensures adherence to federal/state environmental laws, developing policy, training, and advising stakeholders.

Become an **Environmental Compliance Specialist** responsible for ensuring adherence to federal and state environmental laws and regulations. This role offers progression across GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13 levels, with increasing responsibilities in policy, program management, and expert guidance.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Conduct and evaluate environmental compliance activities, proposals, policies, and training programs.
  • Develop and provide expert policy guidance on environmental compliance issues to staff, management, and senior officials.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to legislation or regulations related to environmental compliance.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive environmental compliance training.
  • Prepare critical compliance documents, policies, and guidance, particularly for real and personnel property actions.
  • Assist in managing and overseeing environmental compliance for property-related projects (GS-13).
  • *Qualifications (Dependent on Grade Level):**
  • *GS-11:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (GS-09 equivalent) in environmental compliance, policy guidance, regulatory analysis, and program evaluation.
  • **or Education:** A Ph.D./equivalent doctoral degree or three years of progressively higher graduate education in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Management). *Transcripts required if qualifying by education/combination.*
  • **or Combination:** Equivalent mix of specialized experience and education.
  • *GS-12:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (GS-11 equivalent) performing environmental compliance program work, developing training, advising staff, serving as a technical expert, and preparing compliance documents for property actions.
  • *Note: Education cannot substitute experience at this level.*
  • *GS-13:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (GS-12 equivalent) providing high-level advice, assisting in project oversight for property actions, and developing policy guidance and training.
  • *Note: Education cannot substitute experience at this level.*
  • *General:**
  • All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, is considered.
