American University seeks an experienced Employee and Internal Communications Manager to develop and implement engaging communication strategies. This hybrid role (3-4 days/week on campus) focuses on Human Resources (HR) related communications, ensuring employees are informed about benefits, professional development, performance management, and other key initiatives.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and execute comprehensive employee communication plans, primarily for HR programs (e.g., open enrollment, benefits, wellness, training, policies).
- Partner closely with HR to understand communication needs, create messaging, campaigns, and ensure compliance.
- Produce a wide range of communications, from benefits promotions to performance management guidance.
- Coordinate with web, design teams, and external vendors to strategically highlight content across platforms.
- Manage communication projects, track data, and analyze effectiveness to meet strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the Internal Communications team to develop creative, integrated content and employee stories.
- Support crisis communication management, particularly for HR and benefits-related operational challenges.
- Monitor communication trends and recommend new technologies or approaches to enhance internal messaging.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in communications, with a strong focus on internal/employee communications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of benefits and HR disciplines.
- Exceptional communication skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and research.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, planning, management, and organizational abilities.
- Proven ability to manage internal relationships, collaborate, and build partnerships.
- Flexibility to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and operate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in interpreting and writing about benefits, compensation, and HR programs.
- *Preferred Qualifications:**
- Master's degree or equivalent.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience.

- *Salary Range:** $85,136 - $96,000 annually
