Job Description

Summary

Conduct economic analysis, develop models, and present findings to inform policy and strategic decisions.

This role involves applying economic principles and quantitative methods to conduct rigorous analyses and provide strategic insights at various complexity levels. We are seeking Economists to contribute to critical policy and market evaluations.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • **At the GS-12 Level:**
* Conduct economic analyses and studies on well-defined problems using established theories and methodologies. * Contribute to the development or adaptation of economic models and analytical techniques under general guidance. * Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations detailing economic findings and their implications for specific projects or programs.
  • **At the GS-13 Level (building on GS-12 skills):**
* Independently plan, conduct, and document advanced economic analyses, research, and studies, utilizing sophisticated quantitative and qualitative methodologies. * Develop, adapt, and apply complex economic models and analytical techniques to evaluate the impacts of policies, technologies, or market forces on specific sectors or the broader economy. * Authoritatively present complex economic findings, conclusions, and policy recommendations to diverse audiences, including senior decision-makers.

  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Education:**
* A degree in Economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. * **or** A combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in economics, plus appropriate professional experience or additional education.
  • **Specialized Experience:**
* **GS-12:** At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, demonstrating the ability to conduct economic analyses, contribute to model development, and prepare reports. * **GS-13:** At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, demonstrating the ability to independently plan and conduct advanced economic analyses, develop complex models, and present findings to senior audiences.
  • **Qualifying Experience Examples:**
* Individual economic research assignments requiring planning, analysis, evaluation, and report preparation. * Supervisory or project coordination roles involving professional economists and requiring economic information evaluation. * College/university teaching in economics that included personal research, direction of graduate theses, or consulting.
  • **Important Note:** All qualifying experience must involve the direct use and understanding of economic principles and theories. Both paid and unpaid (e.g., volunteer) experience are considered.
