Job Description

Summary

Senior Executive Service opportunity for a marine engineering expert to drive efficiency and leadership in federal programs.

We are seeking a highly qualified leader for a Senior Executive Service (SES) position within the Federal government. This role requires a commitment to public service, the U.S. Constitution, and driving efficiency in government operations.

  • Clearly demonstrate relevant experience, education, and accomplishments for all Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and Technical Qualifications (TQs) within your 2-page resume.
  • There is NO requirement to prepare separate narrative statements for ECQs or TQs.
  • *Technical Qualifications (TQs):**
  • **Broad Expertise in Marine Engineering Systems:** Demonstrated knowledge and application in design, technology transition, acquisition, fleet readiness, in-service support, research, development, testing, certification, systems engineering, and stewardship for surface ships, submarines, and vehicle marine engineering systems.
  • **In-depth Knowledge of Shipboard Machinery Systems:** Expertise in shipboard machinery systems and controls, including technical knowledge of system architectures, requirements, design, maintenance, modernization, integration, and testing.
  • *Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs):**
New entrants to the SES under a career appointment are assessed on the following five mandatory ECQs. Your resume must show demonstrated evidence of these.
  • **Commitment to Rule of Law and American Founding Principles:** Upholding the Constitution, rule of law, and serving the American people.
  • **Driving Efficiency:** Strategic resource management, effective budgeting, waste reduction, and process/technological improvements.
  • **Merit and Competence:** Delivering exceptional quality work with demonstrated knowledge, ability, and technical competence.
  • **Leading People:** Inspiring and guiding teams toward organizational goals, fostering a high-performance, high-accountability culture, and leading through change.
  • **Achieving Results:** Successfully meeting individual and organizational objectives, aligning outcomes with strategic goals.
  • *Note:** If you are a current SES member, have OPM-approved SES Candidate Development Program certification, or SES reinstatement eligibility, you do not need to address ECQs. Attach proof of your eligibility (e.g., SF-50, QRB certification).
Volunteer experience, including National Service programs, counts toward qualification requirements.
