Director, Data Engineering - Marketing Data Platform

Capital One is seeking a Director, Data Engineering for our Marketing and Messaging organization within Enterprise Platforms Technology. This critical role leads teams responsible for delivering the right message to the right customer, driving a multi-year modernization journey to enhance our messaging ecosystem. You will spearhead the Marketing Data Platform, ensuring a cohesive data strategy across the organization and building highly performant, scalable data solutions.

• *What You'll Do:**
• Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software and data engineers.
• Drive a cohesive data strategy for Marketing & Messaging in collaboration with enterprise partners.
• Build and scale robust data platforms, integrating data from our enterprise ecosystem.
• Modernize existing tech stacks and data platforms, embracing emerging and open-source technologies.
• Identify and implement automation and machine learning opportunities.
• Partner with architects, product owners, and engineers for new application implementation.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack technical solutions within Agile teams.
• Lead deployments to AWS environments and provide operational support.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure compliance with engineering standards.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• At least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering.
• At least 5 years of people management experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with Big Data and Data Streaming.
• At least 3 years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (Amazon Web Services).
• *Preferred Qualifications:**
• Master’s Degree.
• 12+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• 10+ years of hands-on coding in languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, SQL.
• 10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development.
• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (Amazon Web Services).
• 3+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools.
• *Salary Range (McLean, VA):** $263,900 - $301,200 annually, plus performance-based incentive compensation.
