Summary
Lead Data Engineering teams at Capital One, driving strategy and building scalable marketing data platforms for critical customer messaging.
Capital One is seeking a Director, Data Engineering to lead our Marketing Data Platform teams. This role is critical to our Marketing and Messaging organization, which focuses on delivering timely and relevant communications to our customers and prospects. You will drive a cohesive data strategy, modernize our data ecosystem, and build highly performant, scalable data platforms that leverage enterprise data.
- *What You'll Do:**
- Lead, mentor, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software and data engineers.
- Define and implement a robust data strategy across Marketing & Messaging.
- Drive the modernization of existing technology stacks and data platforms.
- Incubate and integrate emerging technologies and open-source solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify and implement automation and machine learning opportunities.
- Partner with architects, product owners, and engineers to design, develop, test, and support full-stack technical solutions.
- Lead efforts to deploy and provide operational support for applications in AWS environments.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure adherence to engineering best practices.

- *Basic Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- At least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering.
- At least 5 years of people management experience.
- At least 3 years of experience with Big Data and Data Streaming technologies.
- At least 3 years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS).
- *Preferred Qualifications:**
- Master’s Degree.
- 12+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
- 10+ years of hands-on coding experience in languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, SQL.
- 10+ years of full lifecycle system development experience (conception to production support).
- 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS).
- 3+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools.
