Summary
Lead strategic communications and brand storytelling for a historic Catholic institution, overseeing all internal and external messaging.
Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School seeks a Director of Communications to serve as the chief storyteller and brand steward. Reporting to the President, this senior leader will oversee all internal and external communications, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and values.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- **Strategic Communications:** Advise senior leadership, develop and implement data-informed communication strategies for enrollment, advancement, and engagement.
- **Content & Digital Management:** Oversee the creation and production of all print and digital publications, including newsletters, magazines, and marketing materials. Manage and maintain the school website.
- **Media & Crisis Relations:** Serve as the primary media contact, cultivate positive press relationships, and lead urgent/crisis communication efforts.
- **Team Leadership:** Direct and mentor a small communications team, fostering cross-departmental collaboration and managing external vendors.
- **Operations & Budget:** Utilize communications and project management tools (e.g., Canva, InDesign, Finalsite) and manage the departmental budget.
- *Qualifications:**
- Significant communications experience, ideally within independent schools, higher education, or mission-driven organizations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment, aligning with institutional values.
- Strong understanding of Catholic identity and social teaching, capable of navigating complex cultural conversations.
- Experience managing crisis communications and serving as an organizational spokesperson.
- Visual design sensibility and proficiency with relevant communications and project management tools (e.g., Canva, InDesign, Finalsite, Google Suite).
- Mission-driven with high emotional intelligence, collaborative spirit, and strategic thinking.
- *Work Environment:**
- Full-time, 12-month, exempt position.
- On-campus work (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) with occasional availability for school events.
- Salary: $90,000 – $120,000+ commensurate with experience.
