Director, Assistant General Counsel - Marketing Platform

Join our TechReg Legal team as the lead legal partner for marketing, messaging, and personalization infrastructure. You will provide strategic legal guidance to Product, Engineering, and Design teams, ensuring innovation within a complex regulatory landscape, focusing on privacy and ad tech issues.

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• **Strategic Legal Counsel:** Serve as a proactive advisor to senior product leaders on marketing platform evolution, integrating privacy-by-design principles.
• **Ad Tech & Data Privacy Expertise:** Act as a subject matter expert on digital tracking, data management, and a wide range of ad tech legal issues. Advise on data privacy laws including GLBA, CCPA, and evolving state/international frameworks.
• **Vendor Partnerships:** Partner with business and supplier management teams to negotiate complex commercial agreements with ad tech vendors, data providers, and marketing partners.
• **Scalable Solutions:** Develop processes, playbooks, and training materials to enable confident and compliant operations for marketing and product teams.
• **Compliance & Risk Management:** Review product features for regulatory compliance, identify legal risks, and provide actionable recommendations, including drafting disclosures and assisting with strategic integrations.
• **Legal Research & Strategy:** Conduct legal research on new technologies and laws, develop legal theories, and influence business strategy and decisions.
• *Qualifications:**
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of at least one state bar.
• 5+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, government agency, military, or in-house setting.
• 5+ years of experience in privacy, ad tech, and product counseling.
• Deep familiarity with data privacy nuances and the digital advertising ecosystem.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
• *Preferred Qualifications:**
• 8+ years experience in data privacy/security laws (e.g., CCPA).
• 8+ years experience in legal aspects of ad tech (online tracking, affiliate data sharing).
• In-house product counseling experience supporting e-commerce, mobile apps, payments, or software products.
