Summary
Manage digital content and strategy for American University's web properties, optimizing engagement through analytics and best practices.
American University, a student-centered research institution in Washington, DC, seeks a Digital Content Strategist. This full-time, hybrid position (3-4 days on campus weekly) is integral to managing and optimizing digital content across university-owned web properties and marketing initiatives.
- *Responsibilities:**
- Manage and audit digital content for the university's homepage, division/college pages, and key microsites.
- Develop and integrate online editorial strategies with social media efforts.
- Collaborate with creative teams (photography, video, PR, publications) to optimize content.
- Analyze website and social media metrics (e.g., time on site, bounce rate) to glean insights, recommend adjustments, and improve engagement.
- Provide expert guidance on web and social media best practices to university staff.
- Stay current with emerging digital trends, issues, and opportunities.
- *Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in digital content strategy.
- Proven experience creating strategic, audience-driven digital content.
- Strong understanding of web content best practices, including information architecture, responsive design, usability, accessibility, and SEO.
- Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Proficiency in web analytics tools like Google Analytics.
- Excellent editorial, interpersonal, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously.
- *Preferred Skills:**
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web development technologies.
- *Salary Range:** $59,000 - $67,000 annually.
