Summary

Seeking an Advanced-Level Dietitian to lead complex nutrition care, drive strategic initiatives, and enhance Veteran health.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Advanced-Level Dietitian (GS-12) to provide comprehensive nutrition care and leadership.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for Veterans, applying an advanced scope of practice.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in developing nutrition-related services, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Provide expert consultative services regarding advanced therapies and nutrition research.
  • Develop, monitor, and direct practice-specific benchmarks based on national standards of care.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate organizational nutrition initiatives and lead their implementation.
  • Establish goals, measure outcomes, and report progress to medical center committees and healthcare teams.
  • Lead staff development, create competencies, and develop training activities for nutrition personnel.
  • Lead nutrition research studies or performance improvement projects, communicating findings effectively.
  • Present complex nutrition information at seminars, workshops, and lectures to influence healthcare provision.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Citizenship & Language:** U.S. Citizenship and English language proficiency.
  • **Registration:** Must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.
  • **Advanced Certification:** Hold an Advanced Practice Certification from a nationally recognized certifying body directly related to the assignment. Examples include, but are not limited to: Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM), Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition (CSR), Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG), Registered Dietitian Nutritionist-Advanced Practitioner (RDN-AP), or Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC).
  • **Key Skills:**
* Leading teams in implementing nutrition activities. * Utilizing evidence-based practice guidelines to improve patient outcomes. * Developing policies and standard operating procedures. * Serving as a nutrition expert, providing technical guidance and staff development. * Leading research or performance improvement studies. * Presenting complex nutrition information to large groups to persuade and influence care.

  • *Preferred Qualifications:**
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience as a Nutrition Support Dietitian.
  • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) certification.
  • Ability to independently write TPN orders and manage enteral nutrition modalities.
