Job Description

Summary

Lead multi-million dollar capital projects, manage extensive staff, and drive strategic initiatives in a senior executive role.

We are seeking a seasoned executive leader to direct high-value capital projects, manage extensive teams, and shape strategic direction within a dynamic organizational environment. Candidates must demonstrate substantial leadership experience, typically at the GS-15 level or equivalent, across all outlined qualifications.

  • Proven ability to manage a multi-million dollar design and construction capital program, encompassing full lifecycle project delivery with robust budget development, quality control, technical support, and resource management.
  • Experience managing and supervising over 300 professional and trade staff.
  • Skilled in the development of operational and strategic management plans focused on cultural and customer services.

It is an agency of the legislative branch of the federal government and is accountable to the United States Congress and the Supreme Court. Both the agency and the head of the agency are called "Architect of the Capitol". The head of the agency is appointed by a vote of a congressional commission for a ten-year term. Prior to 2024, the president of the United States appointed the architect upon confirmation vote by the United States Senate, and was accountable to the president.
