Join our team as a Special Agent, investigating complex financial crimes and fraud. We are seeking candidates at the SK-12 and SK-13 levels to conduct and lead investigations, coordinate with law enforcement agencies, and develop critical evidence.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • *SK-12 Level:**
  • Plan, conduct, and report on investigations involving various law enforcement agencies or task forces.
  • Prepare essential documents, including work plans, memoranda, investigative reports, and subpoena requests.
  • Gather evidence through interviews and by collecting/analyzing records, particularly for financial crimes.
  • *SK-13 Level (in addition to SK-12 duties, with increased complexity and leadership):**
  • Lead complex civil, criminal, or administrative investigations into suspected fraud against the government, financial crimes, or misconduct.
  • Oversee teams in investigations, search warrants, arrests, surveillance, and undercover operations.
  • Coordinate efforts with local, state, and federal law enforcement on financial crimes investigations.
  • Advise other special agents and investigators on case-related activities.
  • *Minimum Qualification Requirements:**
  • *Experience:**
  • **SK-12:** At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-11 grade level, as described in the SK-12 responsibilities.
  • **SK-13:** At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-12 grade level, as described in the SK-13 responsibilities.
  • Qualifying experience includes paid and unpaid work, such as volunteer experience, in both public and private sectors.
  • *Basic Requirements:**
  • **Law Enforcement Training:** Successful completion of a basic law enforcement training program (e.g., FLETC, FBI Basic Special Agent Academy, DEA Basic Special Agent Academy, U.S. Postal Inspection Service). Certificate or transcript required upon selection.
  • **Age:** Maximum entry age is the day before your 37th birthday, with exceptions for preference-eligible veterans or those already covered by special retirement provisions who can complete 20 years of service by age 57. Mandatory retirement age is 57.
  • **Physical/Medical:** Must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet rigorous physical requirements. Duties involve moderate to arduous exertion, firearms use, exposure to inclement weather, and defending oneself or others. Requires good vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and emotional/mental stability.
  • **Firearm Proficiency:** Must be authorized to carry and maintain proficiency with a firearm. Subject to the Lautenberg Amendment (no conviction of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence).
